Video Spotlight #24 Isosine

Sharing videos I managed to find scattered across the internet.

If you aren't already following me on Twitter then shame on you since I already posted this about a month ago. I figured it deserved its own post though so here we are.

Isosine's Youtube page exploded with pageviews almost instantaneously and the craziest part was: there was only ONE video. A single video had garnered enough attention that even the music industry was curious what was going on. That single video is posted up above. A mashup video of Slipknot mixed with Justin Bieber that was not only expertly-made but was almost eerie in quality due to how well these polar opposite forces synced.

If you're itching to see more, here's the second video Isosine posted:

Isosine isn't posting videos to Youtube anymore though due to certain issues and will instead be posting them to Facebook. Link here:

Leak Sauce #12 Best Video Game Trailers of 2011

Leaking info to you and bringing the discussion.

We could sit here for days and discuss the wonderful games of 2011 that are already out and the others that will be arriving later this year but I wanted to take a moment to share some trailers that have really struck me as flat out jaw-dropping. Let me clarify that this article is not about the best games to be coming out but analyzing some of the greatest trailers I've ever seen in gaming. To be fair, I refuse to discuss trailers of games that have already been released this year. That means that top notch titles like Portal 2 are not up for discussion. Make sure to grab some popcorn before sitting down to view these.

Side note: If the HD videos are looking blurry and green then right click, go to settings, and disable hardware acceleration.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Holy crap! Did you feel those chills? That video is an adrenaline rush every time for me. Visual metaphors of Icarus, mankind's future, controversial issues of human augmentation, and your average joe turned superhero in the middle of it all trying to find his place in the world after the loss of his wife and the apparent forced cybernetic implantation.

The gameplay also appears to be top notch since you can complete different areas in multiple ways: stealth, brute force, utilizing the environment, hacking systems, etc. There's a gameplay trailer out there to showcase this and I recommend checking it out if you're at all interested in this title.

"It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from here."

Batman: Arkham City

Batman: Arkham Asylum was already an amazing game that I recommend to everyone and now we're getting a true sequel. This trailer manages to showcase a significant amount of gameplay elements on top of being catchy and pulling the viewer into the Batman mythos.

The best part of it all is that the first game already managed to make you feel like the Batman himself: gadgets, detective work, martial arts, etc. Each aspect had its own game mechanics that allowed variety and skill and all of it was layered within a healthy narrative. To add sweet delicious icing to the cake was the voice acting from the classic cartoon series. This game intends to further all of these aspects to perfect upon the already winning formula.

Dead Island

That has to be the single most depressing trailer of any video game ever created. The artistic rewind combined with the soul shattering piano playing really hits home as your mind pieces together what's just occurred.

Something of note: Did you catch the image for the title? Go back and pause it towards the end of the video where it shows up. It's the image of a man hanging himself from a tree to release himself from the pure hell and carnage of being trapped on an island of infested loved ones and former fellow human beings. That title alone has a lot of weight. The bad news is, they were forced to change the title logo to a much more tame and less meaningful image of a zombie replacing the letter I in Island instead. So much for artistic expression huh?

Final Fantasy Versus XIII

Holy crap on a keyblade! Kingdom Hearts creators have jumped on board to create this action packed ride of sword and sorcery. As a KH and FF Fan, I'm stoked to say the least.

I would definitely take a look at the other trailers that are out for this including the newest gameplay trailer. Real-time RPG action just like the KH games, switching characters on the fly, jumping into a mecha suit, and more!

Notice the common theme here?
Each of these trailers utilizes a particular musical piece to their fullest. Without the particular tracks playing, these trailers wouldn't even be half as compelling. I've been addicted to each of these songs for quite some time now and so I'm going to share some links so that you too can enjoy their captivating ambiance.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Icarus by Michael McCann
Batman: Arkham City - Short Change Hero by The Heavy
Dead Island - Trailer Music
Final Fantasy Versus XIII - *sadly it was taken down and I'll update this when I can - all current versions have the sound effects from the actual trailer still in place*

Born Legends EP by Sinitus Tempo

Born Legends EP by Sinitus Tempo AKA Nathan Peters

A musical tribute to Samurai Champloo and Nujabes created by Sinitus Tempo.

Samurai Champloo is an Anime set in the Edo period of Japan combined with hip-hop culture. Mugen (a brash young warrior with an unconventional fighting style), Jin (a stoic and experienced ronin), and Fuu (a young girl who is the glue that keeps the team together). After Fuu saves their lives, they're indebted to her to travel with her and find a particular Samurai who smells of sunflowers.

Nujabes (his DJ name created by reversing his birth name: Seba Jun) was one of the major contributors to Samurai Champloo's music. He's known for his blending of Hip-Hop and Jazz, his record companies, and collaborating with several artists in and out of Japan. On February 26, 2010, Jun Seba was caught in a traffic accident and later died in a Hospital at the age of 36.

Updates and Upgrades

How have things been? Did you miss me? Good and bad news on the radar. The good news is: This particular College semester is coming to a close. The bad news is: I'll sadly be taking Summer classes so I'm not in the clear just yet. I'll definitely be updating regardless though as things are slowing down around here.

New Banner
What do you all think of the new look for the site? Check out that new banner at the top courtesy of k4it0u. You should go check out her Deviant Art over here: Don't forget to hand her lots of money and buy her prints. She'll also be accepting commissions soon so if you want a character drawn, a banner, or some sweet fan art, then you know who to call.

Contact Page
I didn't properly announce it but I finally added a Contact page at the top in the navigation bar. Make sure to keep in touch and let me know what kind of articles you want me to post or else you'll just have to wait for me to surprise you.

Another major update is the navigation menus. I took the time to gather every single URL necessary to list all the major links. So for example, you can click on D&D at the top and find all of my articles neatly organized for your convenience. Now you no longer have to search them out yourselves. Dreams really do come true!

The low down on the down low
Anime I'm currently watching for this season:
X-Men 2011
Tiger and Bunny
C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control
Ao No Exorcist

I recommend checking them all out immediately.

D&D news:
Heroes of Shadow is out this month and you should pick up a copy if you're remotely interested.

Magic news:
New Phyrexia was announced forever ago even though it was so beyond obvious what would happen. I'll be posting about it soon enough. There's finally juicy info instead of just pictures. Phyrexian mana looks promising.

Video Games:
Project Cafe is a big deal. That's the codename for Nintendo's new console. There will be a huge reveal at E3 in June. Current info includes the fact that it will be backwards compatible, a full dual analog controller that's similar to the GameCube controller, and the controller itself will have a mini screen that can stream the game directly much like a miniature TV. Is Nintendo attempting to blend console and portable gaming? Who knows. Take these rumors with a grain of salt but do know that they come from multiple sources and Nintendo hasn't denied any of it.

Question of the moment:
If I were to make videos, what would you want to see? Reviews? Let's Plays? D&D sessions? Random skits? Me dressed up in a bear costume and harassing people on the streets? No idea is too crazy. Comment below!

This is Kylak signing out and awaiting your ideas.
